FINDING THE SACRED IN THE MUNDANE
In a world that is on fire, we need more than ever to not only see the beauty in the world but to create beauty. There is magic in the small moments of our day, in the words we put to paper, in the bravery of sharing what we create — and I think we could all do with a dose of magic.
I often wonder how different this world would be if we actually looked at each other eye to eye instead of through a screen — if we sat together, created together and returned to the rhythms of the Earth that have been so disrupted my our modern world . What if we practiced the radical art of finding the sacred in everything, even the mundane. I am pretty sure this world would be a very different place.
I’m Michelle…a Spiritual aspirant, a writer and a creative. Words have been my passion and obsession for most of my life. My writing weaves the mystical world with the hard truth of reality as we know it. I write outside the box, color outside the lines — exploring the intersections of mental illness, grief, loss, neurodiversity and spiritual liberation. My dream is to dismantle consensus reality with my words, my art and the solidarity of community.
My writing journey
Writing prose and poetry was one of my first loves. I have always seen her, my writer, as a muse — an aspect of me that loves to create and challenges me to find my voice. She has been there since my early teens and has woven herself in and out of the tapestry of my life ever since. I turned to her for comfort and solace while I was raising children, going back to school and beginning to work through my immense amount of trauma. During pandemic, my physical and mental health declined severely and, in 2023, I had to let go of working altogether. Strangely, or maybe beautifully, as my health deteriorated my muse began to take on new life. She became a life raft that got me through a very difficult time and has been my guiding light over the past few years. Now, I am dedicating myself full time to my craft, to my muse, and to begin putting my creations out into the world.
